Olay Vitality Radiance Cream SPF 15, £19.99
This trusted brand invests in its R&D and so their products perform well above their pay grade, and this product, targeted at 50+ women is no exception. It’s packed with active ingredients. Niacinamide increases ceramide production, strengthening the skin barrier and so increasing radiance and dialing down redness. Panthenol hydrates and comforts whilst vitamin E fights off pollution, UV and other environmental stressers. All for under £20.
Estee Lauder Re -Nutiv Ultimate Lift Regenerating Youth Crème, £225
Eye wateringly expensive we know, but this rich, ultra indulgent, super cream is beyond luxurious and works miracles on dry, papery skin. It leaves the skin feeling cosseted and cocooned against weather, age and life. The main active ingredient is something called Floralixir Dewa, which sounds a bit hokey we know, but it’s not a beauty editor’s favourite for nothing.
Superdrug B Nourished Day Cream Skin Phase 4, £13.99
Vegetarian and vegan friendly, this day cream is specifically designed for women in their 50s, 60s and beyond. Containing Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38 to stimulate collagen, which in turn plumps skin and smoothes wrinkles. Spanish Needle acts like a retinol to boost firmness and radiance and tried and tested glycerine hydrates.
Elizabeth Arden Advanced Ceramide Capsules Daily Youth Restoring Serum, £52 for 60 capsules
A classic for a reason. It works. Menopausal skin is often dry and ceramides help strengthen the top layer, keeping moisture in and irritants out. Not only does this mean skin is plumper, but it also smoother and less red. Capsules make getting the right does easy.
Drunk Elephant A-Passioni Retinol Cream, £62
Okay so this product is not targeted specifically at menopausal skin, but its results are too good not to include it. Retinol is famed for restoring bounce, radiance and nixing lines and sun damage. It also contains peptides to firm, Vitamin F to soothe and Xanthophyll to protects us from the blue light of our phones.
Vichy Neovadiol Rose Platinum Anti-Ageing Cream, £27
Vichy spent 14 years researching the Neovadiol range and it shows. Tailored to menopausal women’s needs, this cream uses rosy pigments to deliver a shot of radiance to tired looking skin. Smells beautiful, sinks in easily and leaves skin feel ultra nourished. LHA, a salicylic acid derivative works to ditch dullness.
