On International Women’s Day today, our thoughts On International Women’s Day today, our thoughts and hearts are with the women and children fleeing Ukraine, and those who are documenting their stories for the world to see.
One such eye witness is photojournalist @lynseyaddario. A Pulitzer prize-winning reporter, the images she is capturing are graphic and horrifying. We might not want to see them, but we need to.
“For me, as a photographer, I’m always trying to show the human side and how war affects civilians and women and children,” Addario told @katiecouricmedia. “So that’s what I’ve been focusing on.”
Please go to @britishredcross, whose teams are on the ground in Ukraine and every bordering country, to make a donation.

Happy book publication week to nutritionist, yoga Happy book publication week to nutritionist, yoga teacher and women’s hormone health specialist Le’Nise Brothers of @eatlovemove. Le’Nise’s first book, You Can Have a Better Period, is published tomorrow - and as many of us know, periods in the menopause years can be all over the place!
“You might experience a much heavier flow, perhaps a much lighter flow or even more frequent periods,” Le’Nise tells us, of these hormonally fluctuating years. “For those with regular menstrual cycles and periods, these changes can be disconcerting. As you may have seen on @justlikethatmax, perimenopausal Charlotte experienced a flash period, which is a sudden period that occurs with irregular menstrual cycles.” Yep, we all felt for Charlotte in that scene - especially in a white jumpsuit!
You can read more from Le’Nise via the #linkinbio and in our Stories. And remember, if in doubt about what your period is up to, a white jumpsuit might not be a good idea.

In recent days we have focused our attention on gi In recent days we have focused our attention on giving voice to the incredible women who have found themselves in the middle of the war in the Ukraine. Given the situation there, it feels appropriate to be thoughtful about what we are posting on our social channels.
At the heart of MPowered Women is a mission to power women into midlife. We believe that midlife women have more spirit, wisdom, knowledge, experience and perspective to offer than society expects. We love talking to women who are finding their voices at midlife and often changing their lives.
This year’s International Women’s Day campaign #BreakTheBias, is dedicated to creating a world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive, and where difference is valued and celebrated. It felt like a campaign we could get behind. So to mark the day on Tuesday March 8, we have pulled together a few of our favourite IG Lives from the past year, conversations with Juliet and Saska and some truly inspiring women who talk about some of the deeper issues women face at midlife, be that diversity, taboo busting, or self care. Watch out for them over the next few days on our Stories.
We will continue to consider our posts in light of current events, and we thought Gloria Steinem’s quote was timely. "The story of women's struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights." Sounds about right to us. Love Saska & Juliet

Ukrainian fashion designer Lilia Litkovskaya, @li_ Ukrainian fashion designer Lilia Litkovskaya, @li_litkovskaya, was due to be showing her Autumn/Winter 2022 collection at Paris Fashion Week this week. Instead, she has fled her home in Kyiv with her two and a half year old daughter and ex-partner, and is now in Krakow, Poland.
In an extraordinary Facetime interview with @telegraph’s @misslisaarmstrong, the 40-year-old designer talks about her 19-hour drive across the border to safety.
“Of course we all watched the footage of Syrian and Afghani refugees, but we all thought this just can’t happen in this city of ours that’s always written up in travel articles as a new Berlin,” she says. “We all kept telling ourselves it will be alright. How can they invade us? I have Russian friends, I learned Russian at school. Some of my team, depending on where they come from in Ukraine, speak Russian more than they speak Ukrainian.”
“This is by far the most surreal interview I’ve ever done,” says Lisa Armstrong. We’ve put the link to the full article in our Stories and #linkinbio. Stay safe, Lilia, our thoughts are with you and your fellow Ukrainians.

Are there any supplements that can help with skin Are there any supplements that can help with skin concerns during menopause? According to dermatologist Dr Dennis Gross, there isn’t. He says topical ingredients are really the best, most direct way to deliver ingredients into skin.
“The only way you can create more collagen in skin is to stimulate your own production of collagen via topical ingredients like retinol or vitamin C. You cannot ingest collagen supplements and have it make its way through the digestive system and into skin.”
